Some who doubt the apparitions at Medjugorje say it is because Our Lady’s messages are repetitive. Today’s Gospel is a good example of how Jesus repeatedly emphasises His message, when He asks Peter three times if he loves Him. (John 21 : 15-17).
Perhaps the most well-known repetition in the Bible is the phrase: Do not be afraid, said not just three times but over three hundred times! The Bible also repeatedly teaches us to love and forgive our neighbour, to reconcile with God and each other.
When Our Lady spoke to the people through the visionary Marija on the third day of the Medjugorje apparitions, she said: Peace, peace, peace! Reconcile yourselves with God and each other. She was simply repeating the Gospel message. A mother always repeats herself. One who loves, repeatedly loves.
